I Love Yacht Rock And I Will Fight Anyone Who Criticizes It

“Yacht Rock” is defined as “a style of smooth, tuneful rock music popular especially in the US in the late 1970s and early 1980s.”. Just in case you didn’t know. Now that we’re all on the same page, let me make it very clear, I’m yacht rock for life.

I envision a bunch of long haired folk in leisure wear on a sailboat in the Florida Keys, nosed piled full of cocaine, erratically telling each other ideas they have to start a clothing line exclusive to dogs. It actually shocks me that even though they were flying high on blow, they could write such smooth and satisfying songs. Here are my top 5 and they are correct in every way. Crush these ones next time your on the course with the boys and it’s guaranteed good times!

5. TOTO- ROSANNA- I mean…the drums alone.

4. DOOBIE BROTHERS- WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES- Those falsettos…..

3. FLEETWOOD MAC- DREAMS- Because it’s smooth as f%ck. That’s why!

2. Hall & Oates- Rich Girl- Organ moves organs if you know what I mean.

  1. CHRISTOPHER CROSS- RIDE LIKE THE WIND- The song is about a rebel, running from the law, running to Mexico. Come on! Not to mention the panty melting “Ba Da Da Da…Ba Ba Ba BA BA” parts! Number one. With a bullet!
