Were these the original memes?

The 90’s were an interesting time. I say that because that’s when I was a teenager. I also say it because it was one of the last times you could get away with stuff without it being posted everywhere.

There was still high school initiations, too. Ones where you could embarrass kids, anyway. In Wolseley, Sk. we started high school in Grade 7. That’s a big age and maturity difference, but I wouldn’t change it.

Here’s where the blog title comes in to play.

We were tormented in Grade 7 by the Grade 12’s during our initiation. Stupid tasks and stupid outfits. And the most god awful slime with rotten and sour stuff that was poured on us from the school roof. But that’s another story.

I was sent this picture a while ago, forgot about it, but it just popped up today in my pictures of the day.

The 90’s were a time when people would add random stickers of word bubbles above people with what they might be thinking. You’d open up someone’s photo album and laugh, and laugh, and laugh, and laugh because it was different.

Those word bubbles were OG memes. Not nearly as funny or offensive, but paved the way for what we see today.

Also, photo albums weren’t just on phones!

And now, without any further ado, here I am from my Grade 7 grad, being made in to an OG meme.
