“Saturday Night” is new in theatres this weekend and it looks amazing. The biopic follows the chaos surrounding the 90 minutes leading up to the first broadcast of “Saturday Night Live”. You’ll recognize a few faces, but the cast is relatively unknown, leaving a somewhat blank canvas to portray these massive personalities.
The director, however is very well known. Jason Reitman takes the reins on this one. The same mind behind “Juno”, “Thank You For Smoking”, “Up In The Air” and the latest “Ghostbuster” movies.
The reviews are good so far. Critics have given it an 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. More importantly, the moviegoers like it. Giving it a 92% rating. Oh, and it’s not three hours long either! Clocking in at 1 hour and 42 minutes. Perfect.
The release of the movie is timely as the late night variety show celebrates it’s 50th season. This is definitely on my list.
