How To Deter Those Bastard Wasps

This could be the worst I’ve ever seen these wasps. They are an absolute terror this fall. So what does a person do? Well, here are some suggestions.

Remove Food Sources: Wasps are attracted to food, especially sugary substances. Make sure to clean up any fallen fruit, keep trash cans tightly sealed, and avoid leaving food or drinks outside.

Set Up Wasp Traps: You can buy or make your own wasp traps using a mix of water, sugar, and a bit of dish soap. Hang these traps away from where you spend most of your time to lure wasps away from your area.

Seal Entry Points: If you have any outdoor structures like sheds or garages, make sure to seal any gaps or cracks where wasps might nest. This will help reduce the chance of them building nests near your living spaces.

Use Wasp-Repellent Plants: Some plants are known to repel wasps. Consider planting mint, eucalyptus, or citronella around your yard. Their strong scents can deter wasps from frequenting your space.

Regular Nest Checks: Be vigilant and inspect your property for wasp nests. If you find a nest, it’s best to deal with it promptly. You can use a wasp nest killer spray or contact a professional pest control service if the nest is large or in a difficult-to-reach area.
