Fall used to be the best time of year for television. Of course, things have changed with streaming, but there are still always a few shows that catch my eye.
The Penguin -Colin Farrell is back as The Penguin on HBO. This version of the character is based on the 2022 version of Batman in which Farrell portrays a more human version of the legendary villain based more on a mafioso style. Watch for it September 19th.
Tulsa King– I’m starting to notice a trend here. Another mafia show. Tulsa King makes it’s return for season two on Paramount+ on September 15th. Sly Stallone plays a mob boss bound and determined to redeem his status after taking a fall in status after a long stint in jail. This was one I wasn’t initially sold on. But it had one hell of a cliffhanger at the end of season 1.
Matlock– Now before you go all “What are you 80 years old Chad?” on me, hear me out. I’m interested to see if they can actually make a go of this again. Kathy Bates plays Madeline Matlock this time around. As a kid, my Dad would always watch Matlock. It’s got definite nostalgia vibes in my life. Am I going to actively follow the show? Likely not. However, it will probably get an initial watch from me. It debuts on CBS on September 22nd.
